Anne Burkus-Chasson

Anne Burkus-Chasson is an art historian specializing in Chinese painting and woodblock-printed books of the late Ming and seventeenth-century periods, particularly the works of artist Chen Hongshou (1598/99-1652).[1][2][3] She earned her BA in Art History and Studio Art from Oberlin College in 1974, MA in 1977 and PhD in 1987 from the University of California, Berkeley, and has taught at Grinnell College, the University of Chicago, Stanford University, joining the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1995 as Associate Professor of Art History and East Asian Languages and Cultures.[1][2][7] Her research explores themes of emotion, self-representation, vision theories, and the interplay between words, images, painting, and print culture.[4][8]
