Ann Hutchinson

Anne Hutchinson (1591-1643) was an English-born religious dissenter and spiritual leader in colonial Massachusetts. She became a central figure in the Antinomian Controversy, was tried and banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and is often remembered as an early advocate of religious freedom and women’s religious leadership.
