Andrew Sheng

Tan Sri Andrew Sheng SBS (born 1946) is a Hong Kong-based Malaysian banker, academic, and commentator on global finance, who began his career as a chartered accountant and later served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission from 1998 to 2005, as well as central banker roles at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Bank Negara Malaysia.[1][2][3] He has held prominent positions including Chief Adviser to the China Banking Regulatory Commission, board member of Malaysia's Khazanah Nasional Berhad, and advisor to various international bodies, and is the author of books such as 'From Asian to Global Financial Crisis' and 'Shadow Banking in China'.[4][6] Named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2013, he is a Distinguished Fellow at Asia Global Institute, University of Hong Kong, and adjunct professor at Tsinghua University and University of Malaya.[1][2][3]
