Andreï Makine, born in Siberia in 1957, is a Russian-born French novelist who moved to France in 1987 seeking asylum and became renowned for his works exploring memory, exile, and identity. His novel 'Le Testament français' (Dreams of My Russian Summers) won the prestigious Prix Goncourt, Prix Médicis, and Prix Goncourt des Lycéens in 1995. Elected to the Académie française in 2016, he also publishes under the pseudonym Gabriel Osmonde.
