American Bible Society
The American Bible Society is a U.S.-based Christian nonprofit founded on May 11, 1816, in New York City by prominent figures including Elias Boudinot, John Jay, and Francis Scott Key to distribute Bibles widely without note or comment.[1][2][3] It supports global Bible translation, production, distribution, and engagement as the American member of United Bible Societies and is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1][5] Notable achievements include the first Braille Bible in 1835 and publications like the Good News Translation.[1][2]
