Ama Ata Aidoo was a renowned Ghanaian author, poet, playwright, politician, and academic, best known for her works exploring the paradoxical position of the modern African woman.[1][2] She served as Secretary for Education in Ghana from 1982 to 1983 and established the Mbaasem Foundation in 2000 to support African women writers.[1] Her notable works include the play *The Dilemma of a Ghost* (1965), the first by a published female African dramatist, and the novel *Changes*, which won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize in 1992.[1][2]
