Alok Dhawan

Professor Alok Dhawan is a distinguished Indian scientist and institution builder, currently serving as Director of the Centre of BioMedical Research (CBMR), Lucknow, and previously as Director of CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (2015-2020).[1][2] He was the Founding Director of the Institute of Life Sciences and Dean of Planning and Development at Ahmedabad University, Gujarat, and has advanced fields like genetic toxicology, in-vitro toxicology, nanomaterial toxicology, and alternatives to animal testing.[1][2] Dhawan earned his MSc in Organic Chemistry (1986) and PhD in Biochemistry (1991) from the University of Lucknow, and received an honorary DSc from the University of Bradford, UK, in 2017.[1]
