Allan Girdler

Allan Girdler (1937-2021) was a pioneering motorcycle journalist, best known as editor of Cycle World magazine from 1977 to 1984 and later, and author of over 10 books primarily on Harley-Davidson history and racing. Born in New York City and raised in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, he began riding motorcycles and hot rods at age 13, earned a BA in journalism in 1959, and worked at publications like Tulsa Daily World, Car Life, and Road & Track before focusing on motorcycles. A racer, historian, and raconteur, he passed away from cancer on April 15, 2021, survived by his wife and four children.[1][2][4]
