Alice Oswald

Alice Oswald is a British poet born in 1966 in Reading, Berkshire, who studied Classics at Oxford before training as a gardener for seven years. Her debut collection, The Thing in the Gap-Stone Stile (1996), won the Forward Prize, and she achieved major recognition with her book-length poem Dart (2002), which won the T.S. Eliot Prize. She was appointed Oxford Professor of Poetry from 2019 to 2023 and is recognized as one of Britain's foremost contemporary poets, known for her innovative nature poetry and multi-voice works exploring British rivers and landscapes.
