Alfred Wainwright

Alfred Wainwright was an English fellwalker, guidebook author, and illustrator best known for his seven-volume *Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells*, which helped popularize walking in the Lake District. His work combined detailed route descriptions with his own handwritten text and pen-and-ink drawings, and he also devised the Coast to Coast long-distance walk.
