Alfred Stieglitz And Dorothy Norman
Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) was a pioneering American photographer and advocate for modern art, founding galleries like An American Place and mentoring figures including Dorothy Norman, with whom he had a significant affair starting in 1927 despite both being married.[1][2] Dorothy Norman (1905-1997), from Philadelphia, became a photographer, writer, editor of the journal Twice a Year, and author of Stieglitz's biography Alfred Stieglitz: An American Seer, while also supporting social causes and documenting India.[2][3][4] Their relationship profoundly influenced Norman's artistic and activist life until Stieglitz's death.[1][5]
