Alfred Perlès

Alfred Perlès (1897–1990) was an Austrian-born writer who became a British citizen and is best known for his close friendships with Henry Miller, Lawrence Durrell, and Anaïs Nin in the vibrant Parisian literary scene of the 1930s. He struggled as a writer in Paris, working for the Chicago Tribune, co-publishing the magazine The Booster, and later evacuated to England before World War II, serving in the British Army and authoring several books including intimate biographies of his famous friends.
