Alfred Aho
Alfred Vaino Aho (born August 9, 1941) is a Canadian computer scientist renowned for his contributions to programming languages, compilers, algorithms, and textbooks like 'Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools.' He earned a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. from Princeton University, worked at Bell Labs where he co-created AWK and yacc, and served as a professor at Columbia University, receiving the Turing Award in 2020.
