Alexandra Day (Author, Illustrator)

Alexandra Day, born Sandra Louise Woodward Darling in 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an American children's book author and illustrator best known for her wordless picture book Good Dog, Carl (1985), featuring a Rottweiler babysitting a baby. With her husband Harold Darling, she founded Green Tiger Press in 1970, later Blue Lantern Studio and Laughing Elephant Publishing; after Harold's death in 2016, she continues running Laughing Elephant with her sons Benjamin and Sacheverell.
