Alexander McCall Smith
Alexander McCall Smith, born in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in 1948, is a prolific Scottish author and former professor of medical law at the University of Edinburgh. He gained international fame with his No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series featuring Precious Ramotswe, Botswana's first female detective, alongside other popular series like 44 Scotland Street and Isabel Dalhousie.
