Alex Graham

Alexander Steel Graham (1917–1991) was a Scottish cartoonist best known for creating the long-running comic strip *Fred Basset*. He studied at Dumfries Academy, served in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during World War II, and later sold cartoons to magazines including *The New Yorker* and *Punch* before launching *Fred Basset* in 1963.
