Alan C. Dessen

Alan Charles Dessen (1935-2026) was a professor emeritus of English at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, specializing in Shakespeare and early modern drama. He received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1963 and authored numerous influential works on Elizabethan stage conventions, stage directions, and modern interpretations of classical drama.
