Afonso De Albuquerque
Afonso de Albuquerque (c. 1453–1515) was a Portuguese general, admiral, and statesman who served as the second governor of Portuguese India from 1509 to 1515. He is considered the founder of the Portuguese empire in the Orient, having conquered key strategic cities including Goa, Malacca, and Hormuz, which secured Portuguese dominance over maritime trade routes and commerce across the Indian Ocean.
