Abu Mashar
Abu Ma'shar al-Balkhi (Ja'far ibn Muhammad ibn 'Umar al-Balkhi), known in Latin as Albumasar, was a Persian astrologer, astronomer, and Islamic philosopher of the Abbasid era. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential astrologers of the medieval Islamic world, with more than 50 works that helped transmit astrological and philosophical ideas to later Europe.[2][5][9] He was born in Balkh and died in Wasit, and his writings on astrology remained influential for centuries.[1][7]
