Abraham V. Salamé
Abraham Victor Salamé (1788–1850) was an Egyptian Catholic interpreter and author, known as the last Georgian Interpreter of Oriental Languages for the British crown. He learned several European languages as a child, worked with merchants and diplomats, and served as interpreter on Admiral Lord Exmouth’s 1816 expedition to Algiers before continuing a career in interpretation and travel-related writing.
