Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865) was the 16th president of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. He led the nation through the American Civil War, preserving the Union by defeating the Confederacy and issuing the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which declared slaves in rebel states free. Lincoln also delivered the iconic Gettysburg Address and championed the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery.[1][4]
