Abel Stevens
Abel Stevens (1815–1897) was an American clergyman, editor, and author renowned for his works on Methodist religious history. He wrote 'History of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States of America,' an early and frequently referenced church history, as well as 'A Compendious History of American Methodism.' Stevens studied at Wesleyan University and became a member of the New York Annual Conference in 1834.
