Aaron Sheehan-Dean

Aaron Sheehan-Dean is the Fred C. Frey Professor of Southern Studies and chair of the History Department at Louisiana State University, where he teaches courses on nineteenth-century U.S. history, the Civil War, Reconstruction, and Southern history.[1][2][7] He earned his BA from Northwestern University in 1992, MA in 1999, and PhD in 2003 from the University of Virginia.[1][4] His notable books include Why Confederates Fought: Family and Nation in Civil War Virginia, The Calculus of Violence: How Americans Fought the Civil War, and The Civil War: The Final Year Told by Those Who Lived It.[2][3][6]
