A. Gimson

Ernest William Gimson was an influential English furniture designer, architect, and chair maker associated with the Arts and Crafts movement.[1][2] Born in Leicester to an engineering family, he trained as an architect, worked in London joining William Morris's circle, and later settled in the Cotswolds where he established workshops producing high-quality furniture.[3][5] Described as 'the greatest of the English architect-designers' by Nikolaus Pevsner, his work combined rural craftsmanship with Morris's ideals until his death in 1919.[1][4]
