1767 J. Almon
John Almon (1737–1805) was an English bookseller, journalist, and political writer born in Liverpool, apprenticed to a printer there before moving to London in 1759.[1][2] He gained prominence publishing parliamentary debates, political reviews, and works like 'The Parliamentary Register,' advocating for the right to report on Parliament amid legal challenges.[1][2] Retiring briefly to Hertfordshire in 1781, he later returned to editing and faced financial troubles, including a libel trial, before dying in 1805.[2]
