A True Tale of Time Travel

The protagonist, Hunter O'Ryan has gone camping in the Rocky Mountains near a town called Kremmling, Colorado in order to ascertain how well his site has survived a recent forest fire. He dressed and packed as if he were going to a modern day "Mountain Man" Rendezvous so he could practice nineteenth century woodsman's skills. He gets more than he bargained for when he wakes to find himself in eighteen thirty-five. He makes his way home, rather to where it should be. He travels to Fort Vasquez, a real buffalo hunting and trading outpost founded by Louis Vasquez around the same time period. He meets all sorts of colorful characters, of Angle, Mexican, and Native American descent, and learns the ways of the early mountain men, while trying to figure out how to get back home. .
