"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it," the bible admonishes. But when a child is left to his own ways, he grows to become the shame of his parents, and a terror to society. This book emphasizes on parental failure and irresponsibility and its resultant juvenile delinquency and banditry. Tambo was the only child of his parents. His father was quite responsible, and wanted a good upbringing for him, but his mother over-pampered him and made him to enjoy an excessive and unchecked freedom. Tambo became permissive and consequently grew to become a torn in the flesh of his parents and the society at large. But though hand joins in hand, evil never goes unpunished. For every work done under the sun, there is always a day of reckoning! Tambo and everyone who aided him were finally brought to book, and their reign of terror brought to an end. And those who insisted on doing the right thing were never left without due recompense.
