During my career at the Philadelphia Prison System I was presented with the unusual opportunity of visiting the city's morgue. I had always been intensely interested in the subject of medicolegal death investigating, so the idea of seeing medical examiner work with my own eyes totally intrigued me. As luck would have it, the chief medical examiner invited me to suit up and join him to witness how an autopsy was performed. During the process, I saw all of the human organs perfectly laid out inside the cavity of a human body. To me each organ was unique and magnificent in its shape and color. Although many people may consider this unusual work disgusting or even hideous, I found it exciting. Little did I know that my experience at the morgue that day would become the catalyst for my future career as a medical examiner liaison between the Philadelphia Prisons and the City's Medical Examiner's Office.
