My Sister Emma is a project very close to my heart. I have worked with the disability community for many years and have met some great people along the way. Not only has each person shared their gifts and abilities, but many have taught me essential life lessons. When I created this project, my goal was threefold:I wanted to share some of my experiences, lessons, and remarkable sensory talents my students and clients have taught and shared with me.I wanted to create a book that doesn't have an outdated perspective on the intelligence of Autistics and those with disabilities. There is not much media for children with an Autistic main character, we want to change that. To create platform to talk to and teach young children about Autism. Hopefully, this can help to educate the next generation and truly impact the mainstream social perspective on those with disabilities.Every detail and sensory difference in this book has meaning and reflects my experiences within the community. My hopes for this book are to raise awareness about presuming intelligence in those with disabilities and instill in the next generation that there is nothing wrong with being a little unique.Visit our website to learn more at MySisterEmma.com
