The Trowbridge 1984 Album. Welcome to the Trowbridge 1984 album with pictures and comments. Back in 1984 my aim was to take some photographs every day in and around Trowbridge, to show this part of England did not turn out as forecast in the book '1984' by George Orwell. There was no Winston Smith, no Big Brother and no Room 101 in Trowbridge in 1984. The year ended with over a thousand photographs of people, places and events. Years later I posted some of them on the Historic Trowbridge Facebook page and was amazed at the number of comments from people who were there and remembered. Stories of warmth, of friendships, childhood innocence, the big workplaces and the little shops, many happy memories and some sad. Then requests came in to publish them, and this album is the result. 366 pictures with contributions and comments from people about life in Trowbridge in 1984, to whom I say a big thank you.
