TAYLOR AND FINN: THE P.T. BARNUM PLAY is the new two-hander written by Drama Desk and Helen Hayes Award-winning playwright Jim Brochu which brings to life one of America's greatest figures, P.T. Barnum. The year is 1888 and P.T. Barnum is making a rare public appearance to raise money for the Bridgeport, Hospital. Taylor, as he is known to his friends, looks back on his life as a producer, presenter, husband, father and politician. As he entertains the audience by reading and commenting from a purloined copy of his own obituary, his reverie leads him to an encounter with Finn, his younger self. Filled with tales of love, adventure and hilarious scams and humbugs, together Taylor and Finn relive their life from their own points of view - as it happens and as it's remembered.As they recreate the pivotal moments of their life, young Finn is eager to make a name for himself as a great showman, while Taylor looks back and wonders if people will remember him as a great showman or a great fraud.
