God calls every Christ-follower to "die to the flesh," which, simply stated, is recognizing that mankind was crucified and buried with Christ. Crucifying the sin nature is giving up self-will for God's will in all things. It is a matter of rendering the lusts of the flesh inactive, immobile, and irrelevant. We are not called to harm the physical body as many would believe. The "flesh" is the Adamic nature [of Adam] drawing one to act outside the perfect will of God, not the physical body of flesh. Dying to the nature of the fleshly man ushers rest to the believer. Dying is the epitome of the deepest level of rest - a dead person knows, feels, wants, does, and thinks nothing, they're in perfect rest. Where many Christ-followers are concerned with more work, God calls us to more rest. In such rest, Christ is allowed to manifest His completed work through our mortal bodies. We are to turn every part of ourselves to the life of Christ. In this, "working hard" to be Christ-like is no longer an issue. We give Him access to our mortal bodies to bring the Kingdom of Heaven down to Earth. The burden of work is removed because Christ already fulfilled the Law with His life, death, burial, and resurrection. Having established this, our "six days of work" are over, and we can enter into the "seventh day of rest." Christ, our Sovereign, is the Rest. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Have you ever known a Christian all about, do, do, do, go, go, go, and don't, don't, don't? We have to do this, and we have to do that, and we can't do this or that. If we don't follow specific denominational rules, we are considered unfaithful followers. The problem is that activity wears one out very quickly and easily. When we sacrifice our flesh allowing Holy Spirit to move through us, He flows freely from His people as would water from a waterfall. Witnessing to the lost is no longer a grueling chore. We are the witness because the True Witness is doing the witnessing. People will be drawn to the power and authority in which we function. The message of Christ doesn't change, but the ease of presentation does. Either we force God's Word out of ourselves due to obligation or we allow Christ liberty to convict those around us to righteousness. The difference is between a mindset of "Jesus lives in my heart and life" or "Jesus is my heart and life." The question on everyone's mind at some point is, "What was God thinking?" To narrow the meaning of this question, we can ask, "What was He thinking when He created Satan?" That seems to be the general question at large. People wonder why God would create Lucifer in the first place. We question, "Why? Why would He? Why would a loving, holy, merciful God do such a preposterous thing? Why did Adam have to die?" These are valid questions, to be sure. Many Christians skirt the topic, responding, "God doesn't want us to know such things. We have to trust Him." I agree, of course, that we are to trust before we fully understand, that's called faith. God does want us to seek that we may find. We don't need to wander around aimlessly ignorant of His plan when He's left us enough information to find answers if we really want to know. Although we will never know His plan in full while on Earth, He does want us to know much. So it is with why God created Lucifer and why there is so much suffering. In the Scriptures above, we see that God seeks oneness with us. In short, God wants someone with whom He can commune. In this book, I will address the aforementioned questions.
