“The Church on the Hill” Ebenezer Methodist Church, Dudley Hill, Bradford: 200th Anniversary Commemorative Handbook

Ebenezer Methodist Church, Dudley Hill, Bradford (UK) celebrated its 200th anniversary in April 2021. This Souvenir Booklet provides, not only an account of the Church's history that members can keep as a souvenir but also an informative read for anyone interested in local history in Bradford, or Church history generally. In describing the story of Ebenezer the author briefly considers the history of the Primitive Methodist Church which Ebenezer belonged to before reuniting with Wesleyan Methodism in 1933. The author (a member of Ebenezer) , possessing a doctorate in Nonconformist history, and previously lecturing part-time in church history at Leeds and Bradford universities, gives an interesting and well written account of a Nonconformist church in the Victorian period, as it then faces the secularism and other challenges of the twentieth century.
