Some Dumb Cliche About Death is an adventurous prose poem memoir set in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Pummeled by grief over the loss of his vision, his father and his marriage, the author seeks solace deep in the woods. As he forages a new path forward, the forest shimmers with Magical Realism. He experiences a visitation from Woody Guthrie, invents his own brand of beer and chews on some ancient cherry Pop Rocks. All the while, Death tracks him every step of the way. Engaged in a real struggle for survival that only the mountains, Native land and a thunderstorm can offer, he emerges from his quest grateful to be alive.. Some Dumb Cliche About Death was inspired in part by Charles Simic's poem 'Eyes Fastened with Pins', where 'Death' himself embodies a human character. This book is the second half of a prose poem memoir series. Each half stands alone and can be read in any order.
