OECD Economic Surveys: Japan 1993-1994

OECD's annual survey of the Japanese economy. Part I of the Survey examines the factors that prolonged the recession as well as the emerging signs of a recovery. Part II reviews the stance of macroeconomic policies, focusing on the effect of large fiscal packages. Part III discusses the recent progress in deregulation policies and structural reform in general. One aspect of reform - land policies - is analyzed in more detail in Part IV. Conclusions are presented in Part V.
