Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are two friends as turbulent as they are inseparable. Tom lives with his Aunt Polly, loves to fight with the newcomers to the village and is in love with Becky Thatcher, the Judge's daughter. Huck, his friend, leads a bohemian life in the image of his vagabond father. This novel tells the story of their adventures. One evening, while sneaking to the cemetery to bury a cat, Tom and Huck witness a scene that makes them freeze. Three men, the village doctor, Indian Joe and Muff Potter dig up a man. Suddenly, a fight breaks out between the three men. Indian Joe kills the doctor with his knife. Then he slips the murder weapon into the hand of his comrade, Potter, who is completely drunk. The next day, Potter is arrested and charged with the murder. During the trial, Potter was facing a hanging sentence. Listening only to his courage, Tom denounces Joe the Indian, the real culprit. But the latter manages to escape. Before escaping, he promises to take revenge. Thanks to their resourcefulness, their intelligence and their courage, Tom and Huck will succeed in thwarting the bandit's plans. Although they will be in a bad position in the treasure cave, they will manage to escape. Eventually, Joe the Indian will die and Potter will be cleared of all wrongdoing. Tom and Huck, after discovering a treasure in the cave, will be considered heroes.
