Head of the Department of Microbiology of the Hospital Universitario "Rio Hortega" of Valladolid. Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics. He has lead the National Centre of Microbiology of Majadahonda (Madrid) and has been Manager of the Clinical and University Hospital of Valladolid. Researcher in 53 projects, author of 139 books and 486 scientific articles, director of 41 doctoral thesis. He has received 14 scholarships and 24 research awards.
