From School Library Journal PreSchool-K-Little Tiger is very happy being an only cub. When his mother tells him he is going to have a little brother or sister, he gets angry. He runs off into the jungle to find his friends and discovers that elephant, monkey, bear, parrot, and rhino are all too busy taking care of their younger siblings to play with him. Trotting home, he meets his father, who assures him that a new baby "will be good fun." When she arrives, Little Tiger is amazed to find that his new sister is "a tiny copy of himself!" Warnes's bold cartoonlike illustrations are done in vivid greens, blues, and browns. The jungle animals depicted are adorable and lovable. The story is appropriate for reading aloud and is a perfect choice for soon-to-be older siblings. Use it with Lucy Cousins's Za-Za's Baby Brother (1995) or Amy Hest's You're the Boss, Baby Duck (1997, both Candlewick).
