This Second Crusade has the vastness and detail of a film soundtrack. It's big--with big sounds of catastrophic disasters, lonely starship interiors, and space madness. And a big, powerful musical score. The many voices of the Third Ear Radio Theater Company mix well with the dark plot of a few surviving humans fighting for survival amidst a dying planet and a number of betrayals. Like many second parts of trilogies, there's a lot of action and a lot to catch up with. But Bob E. Flick's mix of effects, voices, and music sounds so good. This series is a great example of why many science-fiction producers work in audio. Were this story produced for the silver screen, it'd cost millions of dollars. But, for a fraction of that, listeners see stellar special effects just by using their ears and their imaginations. That's the magic of audio. B.P.
