The bulk of this volume consists of the complete National Football League rules of play, covering everything from the markings on the playing field to the number of team captains allowed for each squad. The subject index and penalty index are keyed to the text, and a visual index of officials' signals is also included. In addition, readers will find a roster of 1993 NFL officials and a games schedule for 1993. While numerous books about professional football are available, this volume--edited by the Director of Officiating--is apparently the first devoted exclusively to the playing rules.
