When I Became a Man is the very personal biography of a former preacher, turned teacher and is told in three parts: Theory: A re-definition of the author's beliefs, tracing their development from the naivety of youth to the maturity of age. Practice: Family business, national service, theological college, marriage and ordination form the background to the author's career in two professions, preaching and teaching.
