This book describes the biology, history, and ecological and socio-economic impacts of a successful colonist which in some parts of the world, especially Australia, has become a pest of major proportions, while in others it is a protected species. It provides in detail the history of the various introductions of the cane toad outside its natural range in Central and South America, and describes the consequences that can arise from the introduction, especially for the biological control of existing pests, of an exotic species.
