Iona is the youngest person to be appointed to a professorship at her university. Her highly original work on post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) won her the appointment to the chair of psychology. An author of popular books persuades her to treat some people with PTSD, from an unconventional cause. Iona writes a scientific paper about her work treating these people and their unusual condition.None of the recognised academic journals will accept her paper. Iona finds herself with no alternative but to publish, without peer review, in a popular science magazine.Iona is summoned to appear before the university Senate to explain her conduct, i.e. publishing in an unacceptable medium without peer review. Iona offers an intelligent and spirited defence of her actions. The final outcome of the inquiry is a surprise to all involved. Based on events occurring at a very prominent university in the 1990's.The play requires 6 actors, 3F & 3M. There are actually 10 roles but 4 of the roles, the 'Experiencers' can be covered by doubling, they are not actually seen by the audience, just heard. There are three sets but they are all simple generic settings easily reproduced by any theatre company. The running time of the play is about 110 minutes.
