Newtonian marketing: the understanding and application of physics and its natural laws to the field of marketing, thereby elucidating, augmenting, and progressing the field of marketing and the efficacy of marketing tactics.

Ultimately, marketing and physics both strive to do the same thing: they seek to understand the relationship and interactions between forces and/or objects. Physical laws help to model the world and to explain these relationships and interactions. If marketing also seeks to explain commensurate relationships and interactions, then these same physical laws, which are universally accepted and applicable, can be applied to explain phenomena in marketing.

Marketers can begin to use the laws of physics as a framework for understanding how the phenomena of the marketplace are subject to the same kinds of interactions as the phenomena in nature. By understanding the forces and interactions between the entities in a marketplace, marketers can begin to understand which levers to pull, which variables to control, and what actions to take to ultimately influence human perception and behavior in a predictable manner. Marketers can reference the preeminent and ubiquitous laws of physics to glean potent insights and strategies on how to better market their brands and products. These insights, because they are sourced from the universal laws of physics, must hold true and can be implemented to yield efficacious results.
