Darkly atmospheric, tense, its creepiness is relentless. The Vancouver Sun

People still hold to the old beliefs on Achill Island, the most remote place in Ireland.
A strange discovery buried deep in the peat fields lures Professor Branna Butler from Trinity University. Branna, a beautiful young woman from one of Ireland's most elite families, who hasn't an inkling her presence at this place and time is preordained.
A horrific double-murder draws Inspector Michael Doyle to the island's bogs.
The Morrigan, the unholy trinity of Irish myth, returns from two thousand years of exile. She feeds on suffering, fear, and death. If there is none, she creates it.
She conjures armies of nightmarish creatures from a dark world. They spread across the island, leaving a carpet of blood, gnawing and clawing their way through everything in their path.
Fear sweeps the islanders. Their efforts to protect themselves only cause more killing.
Branna slowly discovers what she is and why she is there. She is brought to the Sidhe world, guardians of man and learns her identity and purpose.
While Branna is absent, The Morrigan and its legions of horror have their way with the people of the island.
Branna returns with little confidence in her ability to stop The Morrigan.
The final battle takes place at Newgrange, a four-thousand-year-old sacred mound.
