The River in the Morning

The third book in Steven Turrill's excavation of lost work, The River in the Morning collects poems written from the vague fringes of an undiagnosed, self-medicated anxiety disorder. The fogs of perception, memory, time and place; of one's purpose, our shared reality, the realities of other people; of a muted, constant, low-level pain, and the escape from that pain, combine in a self-portrait of self-consciousness, in which the poet dreams and wakes up in a never-ending loop.
