I Will Build a Barn: A History of Ponca Hills Farm

When, in 1965, Allan and Ann Mactier decided to build a barn as a center for English riding, their idea was to train young riders and support the establishment of a fox hunt in the Omaha area. Their enthusiasm, choice of a beautiful forested hilly acreage, and a determination to have the best instruction led to the establishment of Nebraska's first chapter of the United States Pony Club and the education of hundreds of young riders. Opportunities for training with Olympic level riders, riding cross country jumping courses, and fox hunting developed skilled riders, many of who have made a lifelong commitment to the horse industry. This is the story and the memories, of how it all happened.
