The increasingly outrageous costs of medical care, combined with the increasing difficulty of getting medical care present a complex problem for both patients and their doctors. There are many things patients can do, despite the enormous problems presented by Big Pharma, Obamacare, Medicare, or any other problem they have been awash in publicity about, that can help improve their situation---without waiting for all those big problems to resolve themselves. Every attempt is made to keep these approaches simple and easy to understand while placing minimal time and energy demands on patients or their families.

Finally, good, sound, practical advice to help yourself and your doctor!

I have known Dr. Cook for most of my life and have always known her to be one who looks not to just give temporary relief to a person but rather to look at and even confront what they may really need. She is a truly kind and compassionate doctor who tries to navigate changes in the healthcare system for the best benefit to everyone, especially her patients. One of the things I enjoyed much about this book is that it gives a balanced perspective of what doctors must deal with too! We go in wanting them to fix us with no thought of what we can do to help them with that. We know ourselves and what we can, will or won't do. What we take or don't take or how something makes us feel. Details of our medical experiences may become fuzzy over time so it is a great reminder to write down your history for both you and your doctor to remember what worked and what didn't and why. I give this book a hearty endorsement. Diane Bagby Read more
