History of the Reformation in the 16th Century (Illustrated)

Jean Henri Merle D'Aubigné (1794-1872) , Swiss minister and historian, is principally renowned for this history of the Reformation. At about the time of the 300th anniversary of the Reformation he conceived the idea of compiling a history of the period. Travelling extensively to the libraries containing original archives he carries us back to stand alongside Luther and the other reformers of his time. This is compelling reading, essential for pastors but written with such warmth that all will enjoy its insights. Originally published in French between 1835 and 1853 and subsequently published in five volumes in English 1861-2, this edition has been completely re-typeset for issue as an eBook. It also contains almost 200 illustrations included in a single-volume edition of this work published in 1869.
