PreSchool-Grade 1-These easy-readers introduce children to basic social skills. Each page contains one or two very simple sentences in large type that describe how or when we use the featured expressions. For example, "We say 'excuse me' when someone is in our way or we are in theirs." Or, "Mark is making a model. He asks, 'Would you please pass the glue?'" Photographs of preschool and early elementary age children of various ethnic backgrounds involved in different activities or situations accompany each page of text. Each volume includes a short glossary as well as a list of words used divided by part of speech. As primers that include a short lesson in social skills, these titles are not necessarily first choices. However, they may be useful supplemental purchases in some collections.
